and it was veeerrry strange! I really enjoyed the directing. The real-time speed of the film, combined with its usage of camera work, cutaways, and music, made for a very intriguing experience, but I'm not sure I liked it. I found the film depressing and confusing. I usually enjoy confusing films, but I'm not sure about this one. Maybe I need to see it three more times. By the way, does anyone know why it was called "Magnolia"?

Definitely a movie you need to see more than once. I enjoyed it more the second time. I noticed a lot more the second time around. I also appreciated the fact that everything isn't all spelled out. It really made me think. Strange things happen all the time-- things that cannot be explained. Maybe that was the main point of the movie, which is why the movie itself can't be explained. I, too, enjoyed the cinematography. Also, the acting was excellent. Even Tom Cruise. They did a great job casting this movie.
