I'm usually viewing this page from an Internet Explorer window, but I happen to be on a computer that uses an old version of Netscape Navigator today, and have realized that the Profiles/FAQ/Resources links beneath the main banner are barely noticable with this navigator. Is anyone else having this problem, or is it just because this explorer is outdated? The three links should appear directly below the main banner, and should be relatively large, bold, and easily noticable. Please let me know if these links are not appearing for you so that I can attempt to fix it.

NN 4.75 here and they are difficult to see. I haven't upgraded to NN 6 because of the problems introduced in that version. I prefer not to surf with IE because I don't like to contribute to a monopoly when I can avoid it and because Netscape's mail server is not targeted by viruses to the extent that Outlook and Outlook Express are.

yes, but Harry AOL owns NN and they are wathcing you as it is. Also, you are promoting thier company which is the one we should be targeting (in my arrogant opinion). Sorry, just wanted to say that. Are you Mac user?

Well...
The MS monopoly is pretty thorough. If I could have a Mac, or Linux, and run 100% of all Windows programs out of the box (not 99%--in my experience the one program I must have will be in that 1%), then I'd switch. However, as it is there are certain programs I must have. No substitutes will do. The Windows monopoly does mean that all programs will run on a Windows machine. That's the only good thing about the monopoly. The bad thing is that Windows costs about $40/copy more than it should if it had real competition, and MS has browbeaten most manufacturers into pre-installing Windows on all new computer whether or not you already have a valid license or plan to install Linux. You pay too much and pay too many times. Of course, try buying a Mac without an operating system.
I avoid the monopoly when I can. I did find a computer without an operating system the last time I bought a new one (I installed a validly licensed copy of Windows that I had from an earlier, retired, computer). I don't run IE and Outlook. Netscape does the job. I find that WordPerfect still beats Word silly in quality, ease-of-use, and price.

Well browser wise, have you tried Opera? The free version does have banners at the top, but you can have those taken off. It is faster than any other browser. It is not totally compadable, but it should work better than NN 4.5 here. just a suggestion

How old is your browser, Harry? I'm wondering if this problem is going to affect anyone else. There's no easy way to put the links anywhere else on the page. Proboards doesn't give you much room to play with; but I'll try if it's affecting anyone else too.

I believe It was new in 2000. Since it came out Netscape versions 6.0 (the brain-damaged version ), 6.1 (supposed to fix 6.0), 6.2 (supposed to fix 6.1), and 7 (the latest and greatest--I'm waiting for an authentic report before I commit my computer) have been released. It isn't a big problem with me. I don't know if a more recent version of Netscape would fix it. Don't worry about it if I'm the only one experiencing trouble. Hi Iago, No, I haven't tried Opera. I've heard some good things about it, but I have enough trouble with banner ads not to want another one.

It should make it easier for the text to appear.

Does using this code on the front page insted help?:
<table align="center" border="1" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="1" bordercolor="gray" background="black"> <tr><td><a href="http://spacebridge2000.tripod.com/boarshead/members.html" target="_blank" title="MEMBER PROFILES"> <font size="+1"><b>PROFILES</b></font></a></td> <td><a href="http://spacebridge2000.tripod.com/boarshead/faq.html" target="_blank" title="FAQ"><font size="+1"><b>FAQ</b></font></body></a></td> <td><a href="http://spacebridge2000.tripod.com/boarshead/resources.html" target="_blank" title="RESOURCES"><font size="+1"><b>RESOURCES</b></font></a></td></tr> </table>

Hmmm....I'd considered that myself, but I think another black box might make the main page look too cluttered. I like having that open space between the banner and the board. I'm going to recheck my coding for mistakes that might cause confusion to some browsers, as soon as I get the chance.
Thanks for the suggestion, Iago. If all else fails, I'll go with that solution.

My concern with tables is that they don't always show up the same size on each browser. A small one wouldn't be bad, but a large one would mess up the whole look of the page. I'll consider it, but I'll wait to see if anyone else is having a problem with the current setup right now. Interesting page, by the way. Is it all run by private message or are there invisible catagories?

There are invisible categories. 3 of them. I can give you a screen shot if you would like.
