Shaxper, do you get much of chance to perform?
Another one. I'd never be cast in it but if I could play a woman it would definitely be Rosalind. Such a complete role.

I did a lot of amateur acting when I was very young. During my senior year of highschool, I worked up the courage to audtion and got leads in both shows that year, but one was a silly musical and the other was children's theatre. Not much of an opportunity to explore any real acting. I had some more opportunities in college, but found when auditioning for the serious roles, that I could never bring to the character what I saw in my head. I'm probably a born director, but certainly not an actor

I think I've finally decided that I would enjoy playing Lepidous (sp?) from A & C. Small enough role that I could really work on getting it right, and I think he'd be a fascinating, yet practically inconsequential tragic figure for someone like me to try out.
I once read a paper (can't remember who wrote it) that pointed out that since maps, territories and armies couldn't be shown on the Elizabethan stage, power was represented in the form of followers and attendants. It makes the desertions of Enobarbus and Menanayos (sp?) more blatantly metaphoric of the falls of their leaders.
This pattern of representation is clearly stated early on when the leaders are on the boat and poor Lepidus is the only one without soldiers and attendants. He's also clearly made out to be the powerless one.
