Well, I am one, but not the stereotypical one, that seemingly true because, I am here, and the stereotypical one would not be. But, that is old metal fans from the 80's. So, any here? Any that were as young, wild, crazy, rebellious teens? I know that a few are lurking in here.

I've never given much creedance to stereotypes anyway I can't say I'm much of a metal fan, but I try to listen to a little bit of everything, and so Metallica does happen to be a part of my collection. I think there are moments of "...And Justice For All" and "Black" that are very impressive, musically and emotionally. Not something you'd expect from metal. I know that Metallica is pretty much the default metal band for folks that don't really know metal, but they're all I'm familiar with. A friend of mine did introduce me to industrial metal once though, and that was interesting. A band named "Bile". Pretty cool stuff.

Not much of a metal fan myself, but I'd certainly be interested in dabbling in some new kinds of music. If you have any suggestions, Iago, post 'em!

Well, do you want to just jump in our start with the less hard core stuff?

well, what are some of your favorite bands and songs, and why? If you were stranded on a desert island for the rest of your life, and could bring a stereo with only five metal cds, what would they be?

'80s? Oh my! Maybe it isn't what you'd call metal, but heavy metal music goes back to the '60s. I liked it then, but I've never really gotten into Metallica, etc.

And, there was some good 80's stugg, but some of it I cannot stand, and the 60's was great.

Would you call Tool a metal band? Or is it some other style? And what about A Perfect Circle, Godsmack andSpineshank? If you think of them as metal, well, then I'm a metal lover also. I very much appreciate System of a Down, but I couldn't listen to their music for a long time. Slipknot has some cool songs and so do Korn and Deftones but I wouldn't consider myself a real fan. Oh, and that Disturbed song (Stupify I think it's called), I like that one too.

Well if Tool counts, does Nine Inch Nails? I like both a lot, particularly their earlier stuff: Undertow and Pretty Hate Machine

Tool is Cool. System of a Down I appreciate and Metallica was my favourite band in the early nineties, I would not consider myself a Metalhead though. I'm a Doors man I am.
