What interests you outside of Renaissance drama? What sort of hobbies and activities do you participate in outside of this board? How do you spend your free time? Just curious. It's always interesting to know what other things we might all have in common, and what things may distinguish us and set us apart.

I like to write creatively-- poetry and fiction. I also like to finger paint.
I dabble in cross-dressing. So far I have two male alter egos-- Mitch the Mullet King and Ryan the adolescent with an attitude.
Finally, I collect stuffed monkeys. I have over twenty now!

At the risk of sending my computer into a spiral of general exception faults I'll risk stating that I have a life outside of it (it didnt crash - amazing!). I love reading, although I certainly don't read as much as I did, which I regret.
Art is also something of a hobby, although my best efforts only occur when I am drawing ships, I seem to have an amazing connection with the sea...makes me feel alive like nothing else can. I enjoy creative writing, but I am one of those people that despise their own work, and destroy it more often than not. This applies to my art as well. I always aim for perfection and am frequently disappointed.
I only have one alter ego, in contrast to Ganymede, and am very surprised by the fact she has two!. I have several transgendered friends, and have never known or heard of anyone to have two - quite astonishing

Well, first of all I want to apologize for my post the other night Shaxper! I was too tired to "really" post , but I did want to say something! Also, as soon as I posted that about Richard III I found all the other posts about that very thing! So, you will all have to excuse me while I make my way around! As far as what I enjoy doing outside of this--- I also like to write, but I am also tend to not like my work much. I love to work outside in my "Shakespeare garden" , but I mostly enjoy teaching those teenagers. I do teach my own kids at home too,but Ihave to say that is not always an enjoyable thing.

No reason to apologize! Nothing's expected of you. I was just trying to be encouraging! ;D I just realized that I never replied to this thread, myself. I'm still trying to find an answer to that question. I didn't have any free time until I graduated from college, and I've spent much of this year attempting to decide what my interests are. Outside of Renaissance Drama, I do enjoy other literature but devote most of my time to watching good science fiction, collecting toys from my childhood (mostly Transformers, Star Wars, and Construx), and spending too much time online discussing those interests. Obviously, those three things do not occupy the whole of my existence, but on a daily basis, they tend to be the center of my attention. Oh, and by the way, what's a "Shakespeare Garden"? I'm curious to know.

Well, what I do in "real life" is environmental geology. Outside of that, when I'm not reading, seeing, or posting Shakespeare, I flyfish and play around with geneology. The geneology led me into web site building (nothing fancy, I'm sure Iago does it better, but I'm not trying to wow anyone ) and that has got me into all sorts of strange things.

[glow=red,2,300] I paint toy soldiers, sell toy soldiers and try not to hate toy soldiers - I love toys, and performance art, write scripts, stories and run games clubs for teenagers where they hit each other with sticks, amongst other things. I'm working on a naked zombie filum (don't ask) and trying to get the London Rocky Horror cast sorted out without killing anyone...
And I love Transformers... [/glow]

That game wouldn't be (gasp!) Boffer, would it?? The horror!
As for the naked zombie film, loving Transformers, and putting together a Rocky Horror Picture Show production, that is just so cool!!

Shaxper, A Shakespeare garden is : (first a quote) I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows, Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine, With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine. - MND (2.1) The gaden itself is typical of the Elizabethean gardens of his day: rectangular with shrubbery making it private, it is divided into 4 quarters (geometric shape). I"m ordering a bust of Shakespeare to go in it too! ;D In it are the herbs and flowers that are mentioned in the plays. ( Lemon balm, lavender, broom, myrtle, savory, thyme, violets, etc....) I've also been out of pocket for the past week or so! I"m back.

Welcome back, Litluver! That sounds simply amazing! How long have you been working on that? I'd love to see some photos of it, if possible. Next, you'll need to plant a magical forest...

Also, of course, the myriad of flowers named in Winter's Tale. Dear old Perdita is quite the gardener. Rosemary and Rue= grace and remembrance. All the flowers of middle summer/age. And that glorious speech to all the virgins about the flowers of spring/youth. That's a fabulous idea. I'm just "rearranging" my garden which is becoming by necessity an interest of mine. I think I'll think about a shakepeare garden. I like antiques, fairies (you know Cecily Berry, Victorian Fairy art), and I'm lucky enough to do my passion which is the theatre.
