[glow=red,2,300] Has anyone seen Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead? Or read it for that matter...?
If so, what did people think? [/glow]

FANTASTIC film!! I'm so glad you mentioned it. Brilliant personalities and games of questions aside, the very idea of giving life to the most arbitrary characters in Shakespeare's most famous play and confining them within that role was astounding. I've only seen it once though, so I must see it again.

I also enjoyed this film very much. If you are a fan of comedy of the absurd you will have a ball watching or reading this play. It seems that "word tennis" has been adopted by the t.v. show “Whose line is it anyway.” Read or watch the play and you’ll know what I am talking about. Knowing Hamlet well makes all the difference in the world when reading this play. It is much more fun when you can identify the scene from Hamlet that Ros. and Guild are involved in at a giving point in Stoppard's play.

I've read the play, and it is awesome! Incredibly witty and so much fun to read! It's interesting rereading Hamlet from the perspective of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. From Hamlet's perspective, they are meddling traitors, but from their perspective they are confused and lost. It's great how their confusion is heightened in the play. It's also very existential. It paints perfectly the feeling of being a bit player in someone else's play, when your death is so unimportant as to be an after thought.
The movie was great, too. Very well directed and acted. Gary Oldman was superb!
