While searching for Love's Labour Lost on IMDB, I came across two films both called Love's Labour Won (one from the 1930s, the other from the 1940s). Does anyone know anything about these? IMDB had nothing to say about them. Obviously, they'd be films inspired by Shakespeare, as opposed to direct translations of a play that may or may not have ever existed, but I'm curious to know more.

My Cinemania95 didn't list any Love's Labour Won. Searching the Internet I found several references to a Love's Labour Wonne by Don Nigro which involves Shakespeare, Marlowe, and the Dark Lady having adventures. Might make material for our sonnet discussion.

I've now checked every imaginable resource available for video releases of both "Love's Labour Won" and "Love's Labour Wonne" with nothing to show for it. Perhaps they were never released for home video, which would not be surprising, considering their age and obscurity. Too bad though. The idea of a play about the Shakespeare, Marlowe, and the Dark Lady sounds fantastic.

That WOULD be driving distance if I weren't literally moving in two days! So was it a film at all, or is it only a play? I wonder if I have any chance of catching it anywhere again.

I guess I wasn't clear. A play. Maybe we'll see it on film. I can hope. Or, maybe it will come to a theater near you.

well, begining in August, I'll be living in Italy for the year, making frequent trips to the UK in order to satisfy the Shakespeare fanatic within. Perhaps it will show up in London if I'm lucky.

Ah, Italy. Where? It has been a long time for me.
Will you be able to continue moderating here?

Wherever there's work for English tutors. We're thinking Rome, at the moment.
There shouldn't be a problem with maintaining the board. I'm bringing my laptop and my universal modem. All I need is an internet carrier or an internet cafe. When I get there (early Auguest) it will probably be a few days before you hear from me though.

I ran across an Italian in Naples who taught English to Italians. He also tried to teach Italian to a bunch of American sailors, but it didn't take.
