Hello all. I joined the site a few weeks ago but haven't introduced myself because I am shy about posting -especially about myself. I've enjoyed browsing through many of the discussions. I chose my username because all those poor lord and gentlemen and page and lady characters that never have a name but occasionally have wonderful things to say ought somehow to be recognized. I come to my love of Shakespeare honestly enough. My parents took us children to the Stratford Festival (Canada) every summer while we were growing up. In fact I decided to make acting my profession and have been at it for almost 20 yrs. now. I live in Toronto, Canada with my wife who is also an actress and our 2 children. My daughter just woke up and I've got to put her back to bed. I try to post agoin later.

Well here's your official welcome, Lord3. Thanks for telling us about yourself, and please feel welcome and gutsy enough to post any thoughts you may be having. It's been a slow month at the board (everyone, including me, is or has been on vacation), but we'd love to hear your thoughts and get to know you a little better.
Welcome aboard!

That's incredibly nice of you to say, Lord3! Now if only I could induce some people to share their thoughts on Renaissance drama!! ;D

Hello again! Well, it's good to be back! Welcome, Lord3 and everyone else who's new!
I started a Measure for Measure thread under the plays, for anyone who is interested, and since I just fell in love with "The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock" I think I'm going to have to start a T S Eliot thread somewhere...
Anyway, it's nice to be home!

It's great to see you back, Juliet! We've missed you around here! We're glad you're back, and even mre glad that you consider The Tavern your "home". It means a lot to me, at least. It's my home too, and I look forward to getting my actual living space set up so that I can be "home" more often.
By the way, you'll notice I accidentally messed up your post on Measure for Measure. I'm very sorry about that, and you have my permission to flog me repeatedly.
Welcome back!!

Hey all! My name is Kim. I'm eighteen years old and I love to write and listen to/play music. I'm not too much of a Shakespeare fan myself , but that probably will change the more I post and the more I learn all about him. ;D

Hello again all.....it's been a while, but I'm happy to be back. I'll be starting a Christopher Fry page around here somewhere.... The Lady's Not for Burning is the most brilliant thing since Shakespeare. I might not be able to defend that, but I will certainly try. I"m entirely enamored. It was love at first read. ~Juliet~

Welcome back, Juliet! You've certainly managed to conquer the board as of late I haven't read Fry yet. I suppose this is a good reason for me to change that. Of course, I'm in the middle of Measure for Measure at the moment, and I'd better post something about it soon before Ganymede and Lord3 kill me. It's hard to be a 9-5 working schmoe

Hey Xi (brilliant nickname, that ) and hello Agamemnon! I'm Ellinore and I have a tendency to go by contraries and think sideways. Don't mind me! I just like to play with plays ;D

Hello, you lot...I can't believe I haven't seen this board before! I've never joined a board , so forgive me if my writing's a bit formal..... My name's Damian, I've come to love Renaissance drama from two directions: I used to be a professional actor (by the way, I'm from England.....London) and appeared in quite a few Renaissance plays('Tis pity, Henry 4, Pt, 1 & 2, Hamlet, Midsummer Night's Dream, etc)...Since leaving the business (long story), I've been working on a Ba in English Lit., specializing in 16th & 17th century drama and am going on to do a masters in Renaissance Studies with a view to lecturing and researching Shakespeare and his contemporaries... You see what I mean about formal? That was supposed to come across as a communication of my passion, not a c.v! Anyway, got a fire for the Man Himself, Webster, Ford, Marston, Middleton and Tourneur amongst others....Really looking forward to getting to know you all, hope to communicate soon.

Welcome, Flaminio.
Glad to have an actor in the group. There may be others but I'm not sure. Hopefully we will get some discussions going again. I write plays and also translate plays from the French. One of my areas of interest is Shakespeare in France, and the mutations that occur as borders and language boundaries are crossed.
Tell us more about your interests.
