Hi guys! Sheesh. I've been away for a while now, and I really apologize for the absense. Working full time has really drained the other passions out of me for the moment, and I rarely find the time to pick up a play or even ponder a wild thought. Sad, really. In any case, I've been checking in (even when I haven't been posting) and I'm glad to see the board so active in my absense. I feel like the Duke of Dark Corners Speaking of which, I'm in need of an Alonzo. Since Ganymede and I are working stiffs and not around as often as we should be, would anyone else like to volunteer to become a moderator? Basically, all you'd be responsible for is being your welcoming, friendly self and encouraging discussion. You'd have the ability to move incorrectly placed topics and ban troublesome folk but, honestly, I've only had to use that ability once ever. At any rate, thanks so much for keeping the board alive, and let me know if anyone's interested in taking over in my absense. I'll try to get fired just as soon as possible Best regards! Shaxper

*steps up to the plate and does some practice swings*
So I know I haven't been around much in general, and I couldn't commit to much now, as I am also a working stiff and an administrator on another Proboards site, but... I'm game, if you can't get one of the tavern regulars. I could welcome people, try to think up the occasional new thread, check on the board once a day, that kind of thing.

POOF! You're a moderator. Thanks so much for volunteering, Ellinore. You've been a great addition to The Tavern, and I have no doubt you'll be of great assistance while I'm trapped in the full time working world. I have a basic outline of moderator guidelines punched out in the Admin section (which should now be visable to you). If you ever have any questions, just e-mail me. I'm still making an effort to check in regularly; just not the 3 times a day that I used to More moderators still very much welcome! The more folks that are actively encouraging discussion and new membership, the better ;D Keep the great talk coming! -shaxper

I'd be willing to try it although I haven't been a member very long.

Hi Rabagas! While I haven't really had the chance to get to know you yet, I'm glad you're interested. Well, let's give it a try. Like I said, you'll rarely ever need to use Moderator abilities, but it's good to have them handy, just in case. POOF! You too are now a moderator. Please be sure to read the moderating guide in the Admin section and get to know Ellinore (just so you guys can work more effectively as a team). Nothing's really expected of either of you, except to keep the energy and traffic going here. Maybe the two of you could even touch base on ways to improve the site. Just give me a hollar if anything comes to mind. Basically, you guys are my caretakers for the next few months. You have the keys (to most things, anyway), so do what you will. Just be sure to feed the dog and take your shoes off before using the foot rest I really appreciate your help in this. Let me know if there's anything I can do to assist.

*walks in a little shyly*
Umm....I think I've been here even less time than Ragbags, and I've posted even less.
*looks at her measly little poust count of one, two if you count this post*
But I've been reading lots adn I've been trying to get a feel for the place. Basically I've been here pretty much everyday just to check in and read stuff, adn half the time I haven't bothered to log in cos I was having a quick look, but I'd be happy to try and bring more people to the site. I think I can drag some people over from another non-proboards forum that I'm on. They are rather poetic and stuff.
Ellinore knows me too. (I didn't even need to look at your profile to know it was you. I just put two and two together, failed cos I'm bad at math, then remembered your book. But do you recognise me? )
Anyway, if you would like another, I'd be happy to help.

*cracks up* What gave me away? My "tomato" post colour? The forbidden fruit in my profile? Or was it the utter geekiness that permeates my every expression? Anyway your tone is unmistakable. Or at least... sometimes you type "adn" when you're writing fast instead of "and." I'd know you by that anywhere
M. Shaxper, this is my friend Xi, a GM from the site I admin but more importantly an all-around nifty being with a keen mind and a generous spirit. *glances at Xi* Also part of the cast of Hamlet I was yammering about up in the stage prods deparment -- Xi got the part of Horatio. *glances at Shaxper* Do you ever just cast people for fun? That's the only way I can survive being a working stiff, myself... I randomly cast people in things, like Renaissance drama, but also "The Muppet Show" and other seminal works of cultural merit. Hours of fun. But I digress.
Xi, this is Shaxper, who has a wonderfully quirky sense of humour and has done really clever things as an admin that we should consider for Trap Door sometime. I can't say much more than that because I really hardly know the fellow, but he strikes me as a kindred spirit, and this site rocks my scarf.

Wow. I'd never pass up the chance to cast a Muppet! Wait. I'm confused. Oh well. Any help is good help, and I'm happy to see more of it! Xi, thanks so much for your interest in the forum, as well as for checking up on us regularly POOF! Now we're all staff! No real expectations on you, but now you're just empowered to help the board as much as you'd like. There's a guide to moderating in the Admin section that you'll want to check out, but don't feel any pressure or real responsibility about it. I can guarentee you'll probably never need to use and of your moderator abilities. Thanks again for your interest, Xi! (Oh, and Ellinore, don't worry about hardly knowing me. Sometimes, I hardly know myself )
